In-depth analysis of bushing material properties and application scenarios

As a key component in the mechanical transmission system, the choice of bushing material directly determines the performance, life and reliability of the equipment. Due to the differences in chemical composition and processing technology, different materials have their own advantages in terms of strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., and are suitable for a variety of industrial scenarios. Next, we will explore the characteristics of common bushing materials and their best application areas.

one. Carbon steel bushings: a cost-effective industrial workhorse

Carbon steel bushings have become one of the most widely used materials in the field of mechanical engineering due to their cost-effectiveness and good all-around performance. Among them, 45 # steel is the most typical, carbon content of about 0.42% -0.50%, belonging to the medium carbon steel. After normalizing treatment, its hardness can reach HB170-217, with a certain degree of strength and toughness, can meet the general mechanical load requirements. At the same time, 45 # steel bushing cutting performance is excellent, easy to turn, grinding and other processes to make the exact size, significantly reduce processing costs. In practical applications, 45 # steel bushings are commonly used in small fans, general gearboxes, agricultural machinery and other wear resistance requirements are not high, the load is small equipment. For example, in the transmission system of agricultural tractors, 45 # steel bushings by virtue of its stable performance and low cost, to ensure the smooth transmission of power, and maintenance and replacement of convenient, effective control of the full life cycle of the equipment costs.

Second, bearing steel bushings: the first choice for precision transmission

GCr15 bearing steel, with its excellent material performance, has become an excellent choice for high-end bushings manufacturing. This high-carbon chromium alloy steel contains about 1.0% carbon, chromium content of 1.5%, by spheroidal annealing, quenching and tempering and other harsh heat treatment process, the hardness can be stable to HRC61-65, microstructure formation of small uniform tempered martensite and carbide particles, giving it a very high contact fatigue strength (up to more than 1800MPa) and abrasion resistance, compared with the ordinary carbon steel bushings, its wear life Compared with ordinary carbon steel bushing, its wear-resistant life is 8 - 10 times higher. The dimensional stability of GCr15 bearing steel bushings is particularly outstanding. Taking the spindle system of precision grinding machine as an example, GCr15 bushings with high-precision grinding process can control the radial runout of the spindle within 0.001mm, which can satisfy the stringent requirements for rotational accuracy in ultra-precision processing of optical lenses, semiconductor wafers and other ultra-precision processing.

Third, stainless steel bushings: the guardian of corrosion-resistant environment

Stainless steel bushings stand out in harsh environments by virtue of their excellent corrosion resistance. Common 304 stainless steel bushing contains about 18% chromium, nickel about 8%, in the atmosphere, water and other common environments, chromium will form a dense passivation film on the surface, effectively preventing oxidation and corrosion. The 316 stainless steel bushing adds molybdenum on this basis, which further enhances the ability to resist corrosion by chlorine ions and is suitable for strong corrosive environments such as seawater and chemical solutions. Stainless steel bushing is widely used in food processing, medical equipment, marine engineering and other fields. In the food machinery, it meets the hygiene standards and will not contaminate the food; in the chemical reactor, 316 stainless steel bushing can resist acid and alkali corrosion, and guarantee the safe and stable operation of the equipment.

five. Copper alloy bushing: a model of friction reduction and special performance

Copper alloy bushing has good friction reduction, thermal conductivity and anti-seize performance. Tin bronze (such as ZCuSn10Pb1) is a commonly used copper alloy material, the distribution of its organization in the hard point phase so that it has excellent wear resistance, in the lack of lubrication or poor lubrication conditions can still work normally. Aluminum bronze (such as ZCuAl10Fe3) has high strength and hardness, while good corrosion resistance. Copper alloy bushings are commonly used in low-speed, heavy-duty, oscillating or intermittent motion applications, such as ship propulsion systems and guide bearings for large hydraulic turbines. In the ship's stern bearing, tin bronze bushings can effectively reduce the friction between the shaft and the bearing, reduce energy consumption, and at the same time adapt to the corrosion of seawater environment to protect the safe navigation of the ship.
